Instructions:

  • Warm up the oven: Turn the oven on to 325°F, or 165°C.

  • Turkey preparation involves removing the giblets from the bird's cavity and using paper towels to pat the bird dry. Give the turkey a liberal amount of salt and pepper on both the inside and exterior.
  • To truss a turkey, fasten its legs together with kitchen twine and tuck its wings behind its torso.

  • To make the butter mixture, combine the melted butter, finely chopped garlic, and a tiny amount of salt and pepper in a small bowl.

  • Turkey should be seasoned by liberally brushing the outside with the butter mixture using a basting brush.

  • Add Aromatics: Stuff the turkey cavity with the quartered onion, thyme sprigs, and rosemary sprigs.

  • Roast Turkey: Arrange the turkey, breast-side up, on a roasting rack inside a sizable roasting pan. Fill the pan to the brim with the chicken or turkey broth.

  • Roast: Using the pan juices and leftover butter mixture, baste the turkey every 30 minutes while it roasts in the preheated oven. Continue roasting until the meat thermometer placed into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F (75°C). Generally, this will take three to four hours, depending on how big the turkey is.

  • Chill: After the turkey is cooked all the way through, take it out of the oven and give it a good 20 to 30 minutes to rest before carving. To keep the turkey warm, tent it loosely with foil.

  • Prepare the Cranberry Sauce: In a small saucepan, cook the cranberry sauce over low heat until it is thoroughly heated while the turkey is resting.

  • Serving suggestions: Carve the turkey and place the warm cranberry sauce alongside. If desired, add more herbs as a garnish.

  • For a joyful and unforgettable dinner, enjoy your succulent roast turkey with cranberry sauce paired with your preferred side dishes!
